Ends of holiday=Ends of freedom

It’s Sunday already. Time really flies fast. The time I enjoyed last week seems like yesterday. Lots of assignments due this week and quizzes coming up like water stream. I miss holidays, I miss the way I live my life where I never need to care waking up late and miss my lectures, oh...

Luckily, after this week, it will be holiday for one week again! Yeah! I’m so happy!

(P/S: I hate to go to library in the middle of the day just to online do my assignments~ I want our home’s internet access back!!~)

29 Oct 2011 (Saturday) Still in progress

I started reading the text for the drama. It was a lot easier to understand the text after I watched the movie of the drama. The only thing that made me confused while reading the text is all the words used in the text is in Old English. That’s really made my job a bit harder. But still, I managed to understand the text. Hopefully the slides I made will be interesting.

28 Oct 2011 (Friday) Bad Day

My roommate’s sister came here this afternoon. We planned to bring her go around Tanjong Malim but the weather spoiled our plan. It rained heavily and suddenly our house’s electricity went out because of the shocking thunder. What’s worst happened was the internet modem burned out and my room’s ceiling fan also lost it function! No internet access means that I can’t do my assignments! Oh gosh! And I and my roommates need to sleep with my housemates because the fan in our room not functioning. What a bad day!

27 Oct 2011 (Thursday) Relax but anxious

I was up early today morning. My felt my body was so heavy and pain after the trip to Kuala Lumpur and Sungkai straight in two days. There are a lot of laundry waiting me to wash and of course a bunch of assignments waiting me to finish up. So I forced myself to do the laundry and then I settle some notes and information needed for my assignments. After I done the laundry and settle down everything, I felt sleepy again. I forced myself to read the articles we found but nothing went into my mind. So I went back to sleep again. When I woke up, it was already 4 in the afternoon. Then I ate something to fill my empty stomach and then I continued to watch the “Lie to me” drama. When I realized that I didn’t do my assignments, it was already late at night. I felt a little bit anxious about my assignments progress but I just can’t work in such a tired condition. Maybe I should start my work tomorrow.

26 Oct 2011 (Wednesday) Group Outing – Trip to Sungkai’s Hot Spring

It was a nice day today. We set off to Sungkai at 7.55am sharp with bus. Everyone was cheered and excited along the way there. We brought some eggs with us so that we could boil the eggs in the hot stream specially for boiling egg. There are a lot of people today as today is Deepavali’s holiday; it sure was a great day for family gathering and having fun together. After we settle down our resting place, we played some games organized by our friends before we enjoyed ourselves in the hot spring and the water park. I really enjoyed myself there with the others. At the end of our trip, everyone was fallen asleep in the bus along the way back to Tanjong Malim. Although we were exhausted but the memories we had together surpassed everything. I hope that there will be another trip organized soon. 

Trip to Kuala Lumpur

Yes! Everything went smooth today. We managed to interview the musician and of course we also managed to shop around the shopping mall. I was a little bit of nervous when I showed him the questions but I was relieved then. That’s because I thought that he will be annoyed by the questions I set because some of the questions are quite hard to answer. I think I better go to sleep now, I’m quite tired today rushing here and there, good night all.

Discussion Time

Although holidays started, I’m still busy with all my assignments. Today I just went to library to discuss my phonetic and phonology group’s assignment. It sure is a tough work to do because we need to find three articles from educational journals that shares the same topic. We used around two hours to find the articles and then we discussed what we need to do. After that, I prepared some questions for the interview. Tomorrow we’re going to Kuala Lumpur to interview a musician. I really hope that everything will be working fine for tomorrow’s interview session.

Black Girl was born!

Can’t deny the power of sun is great. Just a few hours and it made me become a blacky. Before I went for the practice, I have spread three layers of sun block on my face and neck. But it still can’t block my face from become dark, it just manage to prevent me from having sun burn. Now I really look like a weirdo, the skins of my body are all in different skin tone. My face and my neck are reddish-brown in colour; my hands are yellowish-brown in colour while my legs are fair. Oh gosh! I really hate my skins tone!

Holidays!!!

Hooray! Holiday is coming! I’m so happy that today’s SLA class was cancelled because that’s mean that we will be having our holiday starting from today! Next Monday classes are also cancelled. Bad news is that we still have to go for tomorrow’s Taekwondo practice. The worst is that our practice will be hold in the field under the sun from 9am to 12pm! Oh my gosh, no doubt that I’m going to be a black girl tomorrow. 

Touched, Motivated…

Today in 3P class we continued to watch the movie we stopped half way two days ago. This movie talks about a young boy that has difficulty in reading and writing but has the talent in drawing. He was forced to transfer to another school because he failed in his studies. His parents didn’t realize that he was sick and make him transfer to another school hoping that he will get better education. I’m touched by the teacher that found out the kid was sick and she try her best to help him.

           I learnt that we as a future teacher, besides teaching, we’re also part of a psychologist and counsellor. To teach effectively, we first need to understand our student. Their mind state and environment will affect their studies. Love, passion and patient are the three prior things that we need when educating the young.

Addiction

Have you ever had the feeling that when you start to do something and you get addicted and want to do it again and again? I fall for the addiction in watching a drama series named “Lie to me”. I can’t stop myself from watching it.

       I know that some of you will think that “if you have time watching drama series, why don’t you start study and do your assignments?” Okay, let me clarify why I’m so addicted to this drama series. First of all, I’m not like those pros out there that can easily get (understand) what others are talking about in English. I need to sharpen my listening skill and that’s why I choose to watch this drama. Maybe you will disagree with me but I said this in my point of view, what I heard in this drama is that the star of this drama, Cal Lightman, is using British English when he’s speaking. I always have the difficulty in listening to British English and I always want to find movies or dramas that used British English language, and ta-daa! I found it! The star is speaking in British English and the stories are fascinating, instead of just entertained by the stories, I also managed to sharpen my listening skill. That’s what I call it “kill two birds in one stone”. 

       

        Of course, it would be a little bit hard to understand what he’s talking about without reading the subtitle, but now I improved a bit, I’m able to understand what he’s talking without reading the subtitle but when he said in a long sentence and uses the slang, I still need to read the subtitle to get the idea of his talking. This is my way of learning, I not sure whether it will suit other people or not but it is always better to give it a try than none.

I Screwed My Quiz

Oh no!!! I totally SCREWED my phonetic and phonology quiz! I never thought it would be that hard. Oh my gosh! Okay, I admit, I prepared for my quiz in last minute study. Well, I know this is my bad habit, but I thought it would be ending up fine because I did last minute study in last two semesters and I still able to score for my quiz. How would I know I will run into snag this time? Yeah, I’ll take this as a lesson. I’ll try my best in next coming quizzes. Here’s a warning to everyone, DON’T DO LAST MINUTE WORK MATES! If you still want to do it, well, bear the consequences yourself. I got to bounce, good night everyone.

Presentation

Today was our first EC2 presentation. We didn’t manage to finish presenting our slides because the time was tight for the whole class to present. In my point of view, the main idea for us to do this presentation is to test our speaking skill and our skill in linking ideas from different sources. My group presentation today was not really on the par. Although we made a small mistake (by separating our topics without combining them), I still satisfied with my group’s performance (although each of us just able to speaks in one or two sentences). 

The busiest day

Today is totally a busy day for me. I have listed down everything I need to do for today. The first in my list is cleaning my room and do laundry. After that, I have to prepare the presentation for my EC2 assignment and ready up for public speaking. The next thing I have to do is also preparing a PowerPoint presentation for my drama course’s assignment. Lastly, I have to read and prepare up everything for tomorrow 3P’s group discussion. Oh my, what a busy day!!

Tiring but fruitful day

It is Taekwondo practice day again! I loved today’s practice. We just went there for only 1 hour 30 minutes (it should be 3 hours training but due to some unexpected situation, the training time was shorten). I managed to sharpen my Chun-ji and Dan-gun skill thanks to one of our instructor. He explained the steps for both Chun-ji and Dan-gun skill and shows us how to do the steps in a slow motion. Although it was very tired practicing the skill again and again, but I managed to memorize every steps in both the skills. 

Day full with inspiration and consciousness

In my SLA class today, I was inspired by Dr. Maizatulliza’s quote. It sounds like this, “A doctor will bury his mistakes, a lawyer will hang his blunders, but for a teacher, he will see his mistakes walking around!”

I laughed at the beginning, but when I realized the meaning of the quote, I was scared. I scare that I chose a wrong road, I scare that I’m not up to the par to teach students in the future, I scare that I’m not the chosen one. But I calmed down after a while, the reason why Dr. M told us this quote is not to freak us out. Her true intention is to wake us up from our sweet dream and have this conscious every little moment. I will try my best and with the blessing from god, someday, I will become an up to par English teacher.

Presentation

The group’s presentation for drama class today was really good. Their group presented the Oedipus’s theme and symbolism. I really admire the way they present their presentation. They can present without having to look at the powerpoint. I know that they are able to do so is because they had fully prepared for the presentation.

The matter that bothers me a lot is that I can’t fully understand the text I’ll present next week. Although my part is just to explain the plot of the story but still, I’m scare to make mistake which will drag my group mates’ mark.

It is phonetic class again~ I love phonetic class but I hate phonetic. Funny isn’t it? I love to learn how words are pronounced but I hate writing the phonetic alphabet of it. Bad news is that the coming quiz and final exam have to write the phonetic alphabets and write the real words from the phonetic alphabets given. Oh my!! The worst thing is I can’t differentiate the American English and British English!!! Argh!! Gosh!! I don’t know how to survive for my final exam…

Assignment Again

Oh my~ EC class today was interesting in the beginning. But when it comes to assignment, I am totally down in the dumps. Oh please, not assignment again. I know it is compulsory to do assignments but it really makes me headache. There’re a lot of works need to do! This week I need to hand in SLA assignment, and then I need to prepare for EC2, 3P, and CAD presentation. After that, I still need to study for the phonetic quiz (next week’s quiz) and prepare for the public speaking.

Oh no! Why I’m so pessimistic? I can’t let my bad emotion influence me. I think I should watch an episode of drama first to calm down my mind. Haha! 

What a day!

I just finished my 3 hours Taekwondo training! It was so tiring! Step by step we need to do it perfectly! Today was the first time I got bruise during the training. Before this I never get hurt, of course it’s because I never get selected to be trained one on one. Haha! What I realized today was that our level now is totally far behind from what we should have to. I think it will be a hard time for us to upgrade to green belt.

Happy but headache?!

Today 3P class should be 4 hours straight from 5pm to 9pm. But due to the reason class cannot be hold in the night, the night class was cancelled. I’m really happy that we don’t have to study for 4 hours straight because that will make us really exhausted. The other thing that makes me happy is that I have time to do my assignment, especially the SLA’s assignment. I totally don’t have any clue to start doing it. According to my course mates, we don’t have to burden ourselves with complicated things, because what Dr. M wants from us is just the simplest thing. Now that’s really making me headache. “Simplest thing”? What kind of “simplest thing” does she want? I really don’t have any idea. I listed down some errors that we can use for our assignment but I not really sure that is what she wants. Well, since we will be having our group discussion later, it’s better that we have something to do than none.

Secret Recipe...Again(?)

I like to eat cheese and I am addicted to Secret Recipe's cheese cakes. Here i would like to recommend some nice flavoured cheese cakes to you.

One of my favourite cheese cake is New York Cheese.

Although it's plain but it taste real good.

 The second one is Chocolate Cheese.

This one is also my favourite. Although the cheese taste not really strong, but i like the chocolate taste so much. The chocolate taste is very thick, so I recommend this cake for those who like chocolate so much.

This is Cheese Choc.

I strongly recommend this cake for those who loves chocolate and cheese. The cheese flavour is more thick than the chocolate. So when you eat this cake you can actually taste two layers of flavour in it.

Another one that I addicted to is Yogurt Cheese cake.

The upper part of this cake is berries flavour. The middle part of this cake is yogurt while the lower part of this cake is cheese. So when you eat this cake, you mustn't eat layer by layer. That you won't taste the best out of this cake.

Together we learn new thing

I learned new words today. It's actually not new words, it should be called as short forms. I knew these words before and i know how to use them, but i just don't know what they refers to.

These two short forms are "P/S" and "WC". "P/S" refers to postscripts while "WC" refers to a water closet.

So when you see someone use "P/S" or "WC", you should understand it now.

Having hard time yet enjoyable

Diphthongs? Fricative labio-dental?  Oh~ English Phonetic and Phonology class is giving me hard time in memorizing all those phonemic transcription and place of articulation. But the class is really fun and I know that our lecturer is trying her best to help us to understand the course. I know that we have to learn how to read the phonemic transcription but do we really need to write the exact phonemic transcription for every single word?! Oh please… I’m not really good in transcribing words and I myself have the problem even in pronouncing the words. I think the most important thing is to practice more, since practice does help in making us perfect. 

A Blessed Day

It's my birth date again. Time really flies fast. Thinking of the same date on last year, I was just a freshie university student. I never realize that I have stayed here in UPSI for a year. Same as last year, I can't manage to celebrate my birthday with my family, this is the second time I celebrate my birthday here in Tanjong Malim. But I really need to say thanks to my friends here, I have them to accompany me on my big day. A huge Hug and a big Kiss for them~~~

A visit to Logos Hope

I really had fun today. There are thirteen of us went to visit the Logos Hope’s books’ exhibition. The price of the books sold there is considered reasonable because for each 100unit is equal to RM8. Such a reasonable price of course turned on my shopping mood. I managed to buy a spiritual based book and some souvenirs for myself and my friends. I also grabbed a postcard which I was thinking of posting it to my parents. What really made me feel happy and lucky was I saw the Virgo Star Cruise anchoring just beside the Logos Hope! It was just so amazing to see the star cruise by my own eyes. This will totally be kept and ranked as my precious memory.
